HSS #107 - Banner Bash

I wasn't quite over the moon, so to speak, with my card for last week BUT this week, I'm in LOVE!! Must be the banners, they are EVERYWHERE, from SU! to Pinterest, Blogs, FB, ETSY, they're all the rage and I'm so excited we're jumping on that bandwagon this week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments!

I just LOVE these crisp springy colors together...I kept my banner free floating and didn't adhere it down to my card, just tied it onto the sides. Which added a bit of movement and since the four little pennants fit perfectly on the front of my card, I didn't really need to stick them down anyway.

The birthday wishes font added to the whimsical feel, although retired, since it's an old Sale A Bration set, I figured it was only appropriate being that Sale A Bration is going on NOW!!

Remember, create ANY type of project showcasing BANNERS, link up your blogs and check out what flags the HSS Design Team is fluttering this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Kids Valentines

This year, I went simple with the kids Valentines and they had so much fun creating these fun little hearts for their friends...We just used the BIGZ Card Petal Die, cut off two of the bottom tabs and were left with these perfect little hearts to decorate.

I found these Valentine stamps in a $1 bin and thought they'd be perfect this year. Of course, candy was a must for my kids, so Nerd 'rocks' for the boys and 'sticky' Fruit Roll Ups for the girls. We just adhered the candy to the backs.

The little sour cream containers were for all of the teachers, which we filled with candy conversation hearts.
Pink for the Ladies...

 and Blue for the Gentlemen.

Hand Stamped Sentiments #106 - Color Blocking

This week over at the Hand Stamped Sentiments Blog, we are showing off the Color Blocking technique. This was my first time ever trying Color Blocking, so after a quick Tim Holtz video on you tube, I felt like I had the gist of the technique down.

I took my own spin on the technique and decided that instead of using an array of colors, I'd stick to just greens on a white background. I decided to try my hand at stitching, so I followed a few of the lines created by the EF and poked holes with my Paper Piercing tool before stitching some Wisteria Wonder Bakers Twine onto my card.

So, although it's not exactly what I had imagined in my head, it was truly stitched together with Love!
(especially the 2nd time around, paper rips VERY easily!)

Hop over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what fun Color Blocking creations the rest of the Design Team has created for you this week and we'd love it if you'd play along too!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #105 - Love Is In The Air

Love is in the Air TODAY at Hand Stamped Sentiments, especially since it's VALENTINE'S DAY!! Happy hearts day to you! I have John Paul Young's "Love Is In The Air" song from 1978 playing in the background as I type up my post! Couldn't get that song out of my head when I read this weeks challenge title...

I've seen many fun felted bobby pin creations on Pinterest and couldn't find a tutorial on heart ones, so I decided to come up with one of my own for a sweet little Valentine.

What you'll need to create the heart bobby pins:

A sheet of felt (or scraps if your'e a craft-o-holic like me)
Sharp Scissors (I LOVE my SU! ones, all 6 pairs of them)
A couple of bobby pins
A hot glue gun and extra glue sticks

I started off cutting out a few hearts and matched up the ones that were the closest in size.
Two strips of felt, which will cover the glue and grasp the bobby pin, it doesn't matter how long they are, since you'll trim them at the last step.

I stuck my strips of felt through the bobby pin top, put a dab of glue onto the back of my heart and then pushed the felt with the bobby pin on top of the glue holding it into place for a bit until it set. Be careful NOT to let the glue get on your fingers, OUCH!

Trim off the excess felt from the strips using the hearts as your guide and voila, two adorable felted heart bobby pins...Which I attached to this sweet little heart card with the appropriately worded porcupine stamp "I'm stuck on you".

The heart card is made out of the retired Bigz XL Petal Card Die from SU! I just snipped off two sides to get my heart shape.

Head on over to see what LOVE-ly creations the Design Team has twitter patted up for you this week and join in on the Lovey fun!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #104 - Color Challenge

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we're singing the BLUE'S with our monochromatic color scheme.
A bit of Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy and a dash of a Neutral makes this challenge a singing delight!

HSS#104

I wanted more of a vintage feel for the layer behind my typewriter, so I cut a piece of Marina Mist and crumbled it up several time to break the fibers...once I saw the paper start to separate on the sides, I peeled it apart and was left with two soft pieces of crumpled up cardstock.

We'd love to see what tune these blues make you sing this week, head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments Blog to check out what the Design Team has in store for you and enter your fabulous creations!
