Hand Stamped Sentiments #124 - Quilts

It's time to 'get your stitch on' over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week, with our Quilt Inspiration Challenge. And if you're not a sewer, like me, paper does the trick pretty well when you want to lay a blanket of color on your card!

As soon as I saw the inspiration photos, I knew I wanted to do some sort of a block look and needed a Get Well card for my friend, who's child was in the hospital. (She's out now, hooray!) My friend and I share an addiction for IPhone cases (a little something for Mama too), which is where I snagged my color scheme from.

I didn't do any stitching on the card but love how the Postage Stamp Punch makes it look like it has been stitched. I added a bit of dimension with an EF and then broke out the sweet silhouette stamp as well as the perfect sentiment from Delightful Dozen. I popped up just the two corner pieces and didn't emboss them like the rest. I think they both make quite the statement on their own.

We'd love to see what quilts your fancy, head on over to the HSS Blog to view beautiful inspiration from our design team and link up your own creation to play along this week!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #123 - Paper Pleating

It's all 'in the pleats' this week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments...paper pleats that is! Grab FOLD of this technique challenge, it's entirely way too much fun and link up over at the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog! (and yes, I spelled hold with an 'f' for a reason!)

I'm still plugging away, thinking ahead and getting ready for our move the end of this month, eeeeekk! Since I'm not sure how long it will take us to unpack, reorganize and get settled and we've got a wedding to attend the end of July, I decided to use this challenge to make two cards for the bride and groom. Their wedding colors are hot pink and green, so I pulled some colors from my stash and got to folding...

I followed this tutorial HERE
 and the flower tutorial HERE

This challenge really was so much fun, I love the HUGE impact a few folds made on both of my cards AND another plus, they are still mailable! yipee! Don't forget to check out the cool folds the rest of the design team has pleated up especially for you!!

Hand Stamped Sentiments Theme Challenge #122

The plumes have it!
Come join in over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week as we are hosting a Peacock or Bird Themed Challenge, so FUN! I purchased this peacock feather stamp for my second set of wedding invitations made for a friend, so whenever I see it, it's hard to picture it used any other way...I pulled the same colors out but gave it a bit of a twist this time and I love how it turned out!

I've used a piece of Early Espresso on my card, can you find it???

I've covered it up with Shimmer Paint, haha!... After I used an EF on my Early Espresso, I decided to make my feather silver and sponged a bit of the Shimmer Paint around the cardstock, only to have the embossing powder stick to one of the edges. It was an accident that I LOVED and decided to finish off the rest of the edges and do the same to my sentiment banner as well. A bit of blue glitter in the eye of the feather and voila!

SU! products used:

Stamps - Delightful Dozen
Paper - Early Espresso, Island Indigo, Pacific Point
Punch - Tab

Hand Stamped Sentiments #121 - Color Challenge

This week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we've got a FABULOUS color palette to work with...if I do say so myself! Nothing takes care of a rainy day better than a fun POP of yellow and Daffodil Delight is one of my constant re-order colors when it comes to SU! cardstock.

My hubby's Grandmother turned 91 recently and I thought she would have fun with this fun sentiment, which I placed inside her card.

And I loved how my first card turned out so much, I created a second for a friend, I added a different style of font for the Happy and Birthday which gives this one more of a whimsical feel.

We can't WAIT to see what beautiful creations you come up with, the sky's the limit! Take this color palette and FLY!!!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #120 - Anything BUT A Card

This week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we've stepped completely out of the box with an 'anything BUT a card challenge'

Once I had the felt, thread, needles, scissors, buttons, SU! goodies and hot glue gun out, you obviously can see that I couldn't stop with just ONE piece of wearable art! My lovely daughter happily modeled each piece for me and couldn't WAIT to wear them all to school, although I had to ask her to wear just one and not ALL at once, haha!

The ribbon, pearl center, and crocheted flowers are all SU! although I'm sure retired...
I can't keep track anymore!

If you're feeling like you'd like to step out of the box we'd love to have you play along over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Come check out what the design team has whipped up this week too!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #119 - Masculine Theme

I don't know about you but my 'man card' slot is almost always empty in my card box!! If you are in the same boat, what better way to get a jump start on things than to hop on over to Hand Stamped Sentiments and play along with the Masculine Themed challenge this week?!

I have 3 Dad's to make cards for this upcoming Father's day, so I couldn't stop at one, I made three (although 2 are the same)...

The grillin' Dad was fun to color and I used the cupcake punch to make the clouds.

The football card(s) are very simple and straight to the point, just like a man-hehe!. I picked up this EF not very long ago and I love the leather looking texture it gives off, so I thought a nice brown strip of it would resemble a football-something I really know NOTHING about, sorry.

If you have trouble with "man cards" or just love showing off your crazy card making skills, head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to check out some masculine inspiration from the design ladies.

SU! products used:

Paper - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Whisper White

I stamped my little birdcages in Versa Mark Ink and then heat embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder onto Glossy White Paper. I covered the entire piece of glossy cardstock by sponging on So Saffron Ink, and the white reverse image is what magically appeared!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #117 - Wedding/Sophistication

This week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we are celebrating Sophisticated Weddings...As you can see, I got a little carried away with the challenge and had to put some serious breaks on, so I didn't paper craft our entire house into a grey and white bridal poof!!!

When I think of weddings, white is my first color of choice...but a sophisticated wedding?? Well, you can check all the Brides magazines and online forums to see that grey is the new black!
I chose to go simple, sweet and sophisticated with this 'invitation' and 'save the date' trio.

Just a hint of silver embossing on the save the date and paper band, which makes for a fresh addition...

I took a strip of Basic Grey and topped it with a piece of White Organza Ribbon on the invitation and RSVP card, it's flat, sleek and mailable, hooray!!

A sweet little addition to the set are these coordinating table number rosettes. They can easily be placed in a vase of flowers, coffee beans, lemons, candy...the possibilities are endless!

I hope you enjoyed my Sophisticated Wedding Suite, we'd love for you to pop by the Hand Stamped Sentiments Blog and see what snazzy creations the ladies have made for you this week!!
Thanks for stopping in...

Hand Stamped Sentiments #116 - Color Challenge

Don't these colors just make you skip with happy pink cotton candy thoughts? This week, Hand Stamped Sentiments is holding a color challenge with these 'almost' lick-able yummy colors.
And to pre prep for our big summer move, I'm checking off cards I'll be needing this summer when I'll be without my crafty supplies, so another Birthday card was clearly in order!

I wasn't too sure what I wanted to use as my main focal point so decided to make a collage of Happy Birthday sentiments and tiny little stamps. I added a bit of Dazzling Details to my crown and to both dots on the i's. The 2nd 'I' is kind of hard to see...it's on the little gray banner and is dry embossed with a non-SU Birthday folder.

I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch as the base of my card and now I can chalk another mail-able Birthday card off my list! Head on over to Hand Stamped Sentiments to check out what the DT has designed for you this week and link up to our color challenge, you won't want to miss it!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #115 - Spring

Thought I'd add a bit of MOM to the Spring Challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week. After seeing the beautiful bloomin' trees in the inspiration photo, I was drawn to purple and since lilacs are one of my all time favorite flowers, I colored my image to represent those blissful smelling buds.

I started off with a Wisteria Wonder base, layered a piece of embossed Rich Razzleberry on top and then finished off my color combo with a Lucky Limeade.

My flower was stamped onto a piece of WaterColorPaper in Black StazOn Ink. I used a few different shades of purple and green WaterColorCrayons and applied those with my Auqa Pen. After it dried, I added the pearls and a bit of Smooch Pearlized Top Coat for a bit of shimmer.

My sentiment actually said "you're my favorite thing" so I just colored the words I wanted to show with my Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Marker and then added the word MOM, popping the center 'O' for a bit more depth. Isn't it 'tweet'?! :)

Head on over to Hand Stamped Sentiments to link up your floral 'Spring' themed creation...remember, you're not just limited to cards. So, if you've been working on a snazzy new Spring wreath, scrapbook page, 3-D project, wall hanging...we'd love to see it! Come see what the Design Team has linked up for you this week as well and PLEASE remember to shut off your word verification so we can leave you blog love on your fab creations, thanks!!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #114 - Black Magic Technique

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we're pulling out our black magic top hats, putting on the white gloves and pulling a bunny out of our hats....kidding....but we are using Craft White ink, does that count?

Typically you'll see this technique done on black paper, so I decided to switch it up a bit and use Basic Grey. The first color that always comes to mind when I have Grey out is yellow, that obsession started with my friend Pia's grey and yellow wedding, which was STUNNING!!

I started off stamping my bench with Craft White Ink, set it with my heat tool (it turns a bit grey as it dries) and then dabbed on some yellow chalk with a q-tip. When I was satisfied with my coverage, I used the corner of a dry swiffer wipe to rub off the excess chalk.

I wanted my sentiment more muted, so used my Craft White ink with a Clear Embossing Powder over top for a fun shiny glaze. A bit of daffodil delight pom pom trim and viola, another mailable Birthday card!

Head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments Blog to welcome the new members of our team and view all of the ladies fab black magic creations! We'd love if you'd link up and play along this week!
