Challenge #92 at Hand Stamped Sentiments - OVER THE TOP

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we are challenging you to think big, over stated, over board, and OVER THE TOP...a card or project you will most likely make only once.

Playing around with tiny sharp pieces of metal seemed a bit on the extreme side but I've always wanted to try my hand at up-cycling a soda can. I used two on my ornament, a green Ginger Ale and a Black Coke can, which I just used the silver inside of. I really liked the green of the Ginger Ale can, although I'm sure the black/red would look great too.

Ater cutting the tops and bottoms off my cans with shears, I cut them into 1/2" strips with my paper cutter. I used a piece of cardstock, adhered a portion of a sticky sheet to it and then peeled the red portion of the tape back with each row that was woven. After I carefully finished, I ran the entire chunk of metal through my Big Shot with the Top Note die, rotated it and ran it through again, creating this fun diamond-like shape. I attached sticky strip around the edges and then added Silver Glass Glitter. A hole punch for the top with my Crop-A-Dile and a bit of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding for a 'bow'tiful hanger. The sentiment was embossed in Cherry Cobbler and popped off of my ornament.

Since the ornament isn't meant to remain on the card, I decorated the front so it didn't feel left out...

I used a scrap of Cherry Cobbler paper and attached the sides down with Sticky Strip for a firm hold, to keep the ornament in position, the paper can easily be ripped apart to free the ornament.

Another close up...

Can't wait to see what beautiful, over the top creations you have in store for us this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments. "May your days be merry and bright"

What a great gift idea. I'm glad you didn't cut yourself. I'm too chicken and with my luck I'd loose a finger. :) I love all the glitter and the cute card that goes with it.
